# Seaweed tribute
Jun. 9, 2007
From the article:
«The first batch of confirmed bands has been announced for Engineer's tribute to 90s-era punk/post-punk act Seaweed. The Tacoma, Washington-based band started out releasing material on their own Leopard Gecko imprint in 1989, before moving onto a vinyl single with K Records, signing to Sub Pop a few years later for their career building albums "Despised," "Weak," and "Four." Then Hollywood Records picked the band up in 1993 and released their largest album to date, 1995's "Spanaway," their bombastic major label offering. Lasting only 1 album on Hollywood, the band and label unhitched and Seaweed then moved back to the indies. Merge Records issued their final release in 1999, "Actions and Indications" turned into their swan song and the band split later the same year. Seaweed's decade of existence came to an end.»
There's also a list of confirmed bands for the tribute.

Why should you care? Well, everything we release is free to download (no legal harassment) and you can also preview the whole albums just to see if you like it or not so why shouldn't you care? smile
If you end up liking it, please let me know, your feedback is precious! Thank you!

«long island show in my hometown of merrick
Yes its true this will be my first time ever playing in the town i grew up in. It will truely be a family affair. If you can get there , get there. We will be sharing the stage with nightmare of you and heavy rescue who as you may know ,are dear friends of the avalanche. There are losta other good bands including Vibes who are also a group of fellas ive worked with creatively in producing music for their previous Descent. It will indeed be a magical evening. There will be no special guests in answer to some questions of a movielife reunion. The Movielife as some of you know, is my previous band i was in with phil and danny navetta(heavy rescue) and brandon reilly(nightmare of you). We wont be reuniting that night. I am in full support of one last movielife show one day. For that to happen would take five members of the movielife to be fully down with the idea. All of us are very fond of those days and appreciate the loved there still seems to be for the Movielife. I predict that one day we will do one last show for you and us. But i certainly wouldnt want to unless there were 5 people on the stage that were having a goood time. When that happens is when a show will happen. I supposed time will let that play out. support nightmare of you, heavy rescue, i am the avalanche, head automatica, glass jaw, men women and children, taking back sunday, brand new, and all of the rest of incestuous (spelling?) and creative bands sprouting out of our long and nyc music scenes. sincerely, vinnie caruana -i am the avalanche»
I like this idea of a one time reunion show this time next year(s) but I need to know it with some advance so I can schedule my trip to NY!

«yo friends. just wanted to send out a post to say what's up and to let you guys know what's going down with us right now.
frist off: we want to send out a huge thank you to everyone that came out to our headlining shows this month. it was so awesome seeing you guys come out and sing along and hang with us. we had such a goodtime, one of our favorite tours of all time. thanks, also, to the forecast and the new rivals for coming along with us and being amazing people. this was our last tour for a few months and definately the kind of tour we will look back on years from now and smile.
what now?: we are hangin at home in NY for few days off, and then driving to Peoria, Illinois to Dustin from the Forecast's house, where he lives with the whole band. since the Forecast is inspiration enough for writing music, we are following them home. Dustin invited us to use their basement to finish up writing the new record, and to record some more demos. it was an offer we couldn't pass up. what could be better than hanging out with our best friends AND having a place to finish writing the record? life is good.
CHECK OUT A NEW VIDEO ON OUR PAGE FROM OUR SHOW LAST NIGHT IN LONG ISLAND!!!!!! thanks tom.
We love all you guys. stay posted for some possible show announcements in the coming days.
stay up! xo»

AbsolutePunk posted a message from Vinnie and here's the thing:
«i am the avalanche is neck-deep in the writing process for our upcoming album. so far we are freaking out about how good it's coming out. the record will be more upbeat and more agressive, at least that's the way it's shaping up. we are pretty sure this is the record our fans have been waiting for us to make. i'm sure there will be twists and turns along this path of writing so we will keep you posted. we go out on tour next week, for a week with silverstein, a wilhelm scream, and the sleeping in canada, then directly onto a west coast run with senses fail, saosin, and bleeding through. we conquered japan with godzilla-like force this past september. we were lucky enough to go there with no use for a name, who are rock gods over there, and we killed it. japan loves the motherfuckin avalanche and we love em back. look for a brand new i am the avalanche record summer '07!
peace and love

Now back to «Mrs. Green», I asked for the lyrics at our lovely forum and the also lovely Darlayna did it right away so thank you!
***
It's six a.m. in the Brooklyn zoo
And I may have had a drink or two
Mo's scraping me up off the floor
And I haven't packed a thing for tour
Whoaa Mrs. Green
Did I tell you, I'm falling back
I'm falling back on you again
Dad says he's in the hospital
And now he's been there for a week or two
Oh god only knows what I'd be without him
And if he truly knew everything about him
I'm sure he could find a way to keep him around
Whoaa Mrs. Green
Did I tell you I'm falling back
I'm falling back on you again
Whoaa Mrs. Green
Did you notice it's killing me
It's killing me dead
I'm singing this song right here for Beatz
I wish I could have told you everything about the talk we had
Yeah about our lives and where we were
And you told me to keep my head up high
We miss you so much right now but I think we'll try
We'll try for you dear friend
***
Just a note to say that the first time they played this song live (Club Ritual show), the line «I'm singing this song right here for Beatz» had "verse" instead of "song". I know, this was the coolest fact of the day...

# Back to the road
Apr. 6, 2006
?Hey guys,
We are deeply sorry for missing our show in Edinboro, PA tonight. We've been looking forward to this show for a long time and are also bummed we didn't get a chance to hang with Hit the Lights. We broke the axle on our trailor a few days ago and have been stranded in Elko, Nevada waiting on a new axle to be shipped in. We apologize from the bottom of our hearts to Iowa City and Edinboro for not being able to make it. We promise to come back soon. Right now, we are in our van finally making our way across the country to honor the rest of our shows. see you soon!
--love Mike and IATA?
Everytime I read the name of that city I remember that band Elko & The Bunnymen...

?yup, so we are in elko nevada ( check your maps) and are stranded here because we broke an axle on our trailer. i mean look at guns n roses after they lost their axle. velvet revolver. nuff said. we had to cancel iowa and it broke our hearts. if these guys can get the parts we need, we can be on the road and honor the rest of our shows. we feel confident. we are in a cheap hotel and are trying to stay stoked and not bummed. feels weird not playing tonight. we miss you. xoxo - vinnie iata
P.S: There has been some confusion about where and when we're playing this month. We keep hearing from Kids and Bands that we are playing places that we will be no where near. This is completely out of our control, so the best we can do is say that if it isn't on our Website or our Myspace, we unfortunately aren't playing.

On the first one, Steve from Punchline helps in the guitar. The other one is funny! But there's still a new video and this one is probably my fave right now. Recorded by Carrie Soom from 50: 1/2 of 100 at the Icon, Buffalo, NY, features Mike from Halifax on back vocals:

Now, something newsworthy. Eleven days ago, I am the Avalanche played at the Creepy Crawl in St. Louis, Missouri. Ashley Rehnblom was there and took a lot of photos, twenty six of which are here! Thanks, Ashley!
And now a contest... If you guess what happened ten days ago you'll win something!
Oh, and the show at The Boardwalk, Orangevale, CA on the 27th March was cancelled.

# Back in time

I'm sure you understand why those bands are related but there's another band that people don't talk that much: Heavy Rescue. It's Dan Navetta new band, he still plays guitar like he did in The Movielife but this time it's not loud music. Give it a listen on My Space.
And now a request: if you have anything else and you would like to share it with us, drop me a mail, the address is right on the bottom of this page. Thanks in advance!
# Home sweet home

Eric Ingrum from Awesome Start told us about this new I Am The Avalanche start page made by Julie Morris. It's really great, you can costumize everything so give it a try. Never heard of Awesome Start? From their site: ?AwesomeStart is way for you to make a free, custom homepage with your own links and a Google search on it.? Thanks guys!
Don't forget to keep an eye on the forum, sometimes there are some gifts there. Yesterday, I uploaded an old The Movielife from the Too Legit For The Pit compilation, it's a cover of Public Enemy's "I Can't Do Nuttin' For Ya Man" and you can hear it here!

# Last year's memory
Jan. 8, 2006
This is almost a month old but it's interesting. Absolute Punk compiled some lists of 2005's best albums and Mike's favorites are as follows:

* Darkest Hour - Undoing Ruin
* The Forecast - Late Night Conversations
* Gym Class Heroes - Papercut Chronicles
* The Decemberists - Picaresque
* Finch - Say Hello to Sunshine
* Nightmare of You - Nightmare of You

# Brett's birthday
Dec. 16, 2005
While I forgot to buy something, I still have a gift. I've been talking to the people at the Live Journal community and they have been very helpful and so here's a new set of photos. Those are from the show at Forward Hall, Erie, PA on Nov. 18, and my thanks go to Jessica Conti that gave me permission to get them online.
# More photos and a show in PA
Dec. 13, 2005
Talking about sites, I was surprised to find out that I Am The Avalanche has a Live Journal community. That's where I come upon a friendly girl called Rebecca Broll who has lots of photos from the show at Hamilton St. Cafe, Bound Brook, NJ, on Nov. 5.
Meanwhile, I got emailed by Ron Ireland (Mike's dad) with some photos from Nov. 23 show at Trocadero, Philadelphia, PA.
All the photos are available in our photos section. Thank you, Rebecca and Ron!

# NY and PA shows gone away
Nov. 29, 2005
?Hello everyone. This be Vinnie from I Am The Avalanche. Just wanted to let you know some stuff about this Halifax tour. *We are NOT playing NYC, Philly or Connecticut on this tour.* Theres been so much confusion about all this stuff lemme tell you how it is. When you are confirmed on a tour, the people involved in the process of putting on the show dont want you to play the same city too close together because it effects your draw on the show which makes sense. We played with Piebald a few days ago in these markets so we aint allowed to do it. the confusion stems from the last-minute-ness (new word) of it all. It was all completely out of our control. We wanna play. We love you. Happy holidays. God bless beatz.
P.S. We tour. Thats all we do. We will be back soon. To all my NYC, Philly and Conn. peeps, We love you.?
# The tour is dead, long live the tour
Nov. 28, 2005
As you know, I Am The Avalanche will be opening for Halifax and Punchline on the next shows and I got this little flyer which ironically begins on Nov. 29 (I Am The Avalanche will only play on the Dec. shows).
Enough talk, don't miss it!

# Give away day
Nov. 24, 2005
But that's not all. From AbsolutePunk.net: ?The Punk Video Guys have posted a video of I Am the Avalance performing an acoustic version of "Clean Up" right here. The video can also be found on PVG's MySpace page.?
# Rumor confirmed

# New York & Philadelphia cancelled
Nov. 16, 2005
11.19.05 New York, NY - Knitting Factory
11.20.05 Philadelphia, PA - Northstar
Here's what Vinnie said: ?This is completely out of our control. The last thing we ever want to do is let you down. There was a huge misunderstanding with the booking of these shows that was out of I Am The Avalanche's control. Sorry if you already have tickets and were coming for us. Go see the rest of the bands for sure.?
# Hello, world!
Nov. 8, 2005
From now on, all the I Am The Avalanche fans have a place where they can interact so I hope you all can help me getting this site as good as possible. Enjoy it and spread the word!
