Damn, I've been really busy lately with exams and things will only calm down when I get back from London (Glassjaw show, yay!) so sorry for the total lack of news. Meanwhile, the world didn't stop nor did I Am The Avalanche. Starting with a bunch of tour dates with The Sleeping mid-August.
There's also a live video of a new song called "Brooklyn Dodgers" on YouTube. I made a mp3 out of it for those who can't stop playing it.

According to PunkNews.org, I Am The Avalanche is confirmed for the Seaweed tribute album.

«The first batch of confirmed bands has been announced for Engineer's tribute to 90s-era punk/post-punk act Seaweed. The Tacoma, Washington-based band started out releasing material on their own Leopard Gecko imprint in 1989, before moving onto a vinyl single with K Records, signing to Sub Pop a few years later for their career building albums "Despised," "Weak," and "Four." Then Hollywood Records picked the band up in 1993 and released their largest album to date, 1995's "Spanaway," their bombastic major label offering. Lasting only 1 album on Hollywood, the band and label unhitched and Seaweed then moved back to the indies. Merge Records issued their final release in 1999, "Actions and Indications" turned into their swan song and the band split later the same year. Seaweed's decade of existence came to an end.»

I guess you can consider this a shameless plug. Me and a couple of friends who love music decided to start our own label, Lástima.
We are now promoting our second release, "Tartaruga" (pictured above), which is the first album of Azevedo Silva. It has acoustic songs with some nice melodies.
Why should you care? Well, everything we release is free to download (no legal harassment) and you can also preview the whole albums just to see if you like it or not so why shouldn't you care? smile

Yes its true this will be my first time ever playing in the town i grew up in. It will truely be a family affair. If you can get there , get there. We will be sharing the stage with nightmare of you and heavy rescue who as you may know ,are dear friends of the avalanche. There are losta other good bands including Vibes who are also a group of fellas ive worked with creatively in producing music for their previous Descent. It will indeed be a magical evening. There will be no special guests in answer to some questions of a movielife reunion. The Movielife as some of you know, is my previous band i was in with phil and danny navetta(heavy rescue) and brandon reilly(nightmare of you). We wont be reuniting that night. I am in full support of one last movielife show one day. For that to happen would take five members of the movielife to be fully down with the idea. All of us are very fond of those days and appreciate the loved there still seems to be for the Movielife. I predict that one day we will do one last show for you and us. But i certainly wouldnt want to unless there were 5 people on the stage that were having a goood time. When that happens is when a show will happen. «yo friends. just wanted to send out a post to say what's up and to let you guys know what's going down with us right now.
frist off: we want to send out a huge thank you to everyone that came out to our headlining shows this month. it was so awesome seeing you guys come out and sing along and hang with us. we had such a goodtime, one of our favorite tours of all time. thanks, also, to the forecast and the new rivals for coming along with us and being amazing people. this was our last tour for a few months and definately the kind of tour we will look back on years from now and smile.
what now?: we are hangin at home in NY for few days off, and then driving to Peoria, Illinois to Dustin from the Forecast's house, where he lives with the whole band. since the Forecast is inspiration enough for writing music, we are following them home. Dustin invited us to use their basement to finish up writing the new record, and to record some more demos. it was an offer we couldn't pass up. what could be better than hanging out with our best friends AND having a place to finish writing the record? life is good.

The Walking Wounded is the title of the new Bayside album to be released on the next month and the first single, which gives the name to the album, has Vinnie (somewhere) on the vocals. You can download it here.

The show at The Empress Ballroom, Danbury, CT, is not going to happen after all. That said, the show at Hamilton Street Cafe, Bound Brook, NJ, is on the 18th and not on the 27th as we told you before. Finally, the show in Boston starts at 8:30. So the correct tour dates of the headlining tour are:

Doing the last two weeks of Warped Tour in a van. (Smelly ass van.) And having a spray painted cardboard sign on our merch tent. The tent was a hand-me-down from Boy Sets Fire.
Driving from LA to NY or visa-versa numerous times to meet up with tours. (It takes 53 hours if anyone was curious.)
And last but def not least, being on a european tour and being in Amsterdam for about 4 or 5 days total. Our bus driver would drive us there after shows. Haha. Heineken on tap, "coffee shops" aka the weed store. What a glorious year it has been.

We are deeply sorry for missing our show in Edinboro, PA tonight. We've been looking forward to this show for a long time and are also bummed we didn't get a chance to hang with Hit the Lights. We broke the axle on our trailor a few days ago and have been stranded in Elko, Nevada waiting on a new axle to be shipped in. We apologize from the bottom of our hearts to Iowa City and Edinboro for not being able to make it. We promise to come back soon. Right now, we are in our van finally making our way across the country to honor the rest of our shows. see you soon!

?yup, so we are in elko nevada ( check your maps) and are stranded here because we broke an axle on our trailer. i mean look at guns n roses after they lost their axle. velvet revolver. nuff said. we had to cancel iowa and it broke our hearts. if these guys can get the parts we need, we can be on the road and honor the rest of our shows. we feel confident. we are in a cheap hotel and are trying to stay stoked and not bummed. feels weird not playing tonight. we miss you. xoxo - vinnie iata

You probably didn't notice but we have lots of songs and videos for download at our forum. Than includes almost everything recorded by The Movielife (except the albums, obviously), some bootlegs (really hard to find nowadays), and also some acoustic songs by I am the Avalanche (which were already here on the news some weeks ago). There's even two b-sides by Nightmare of You. You can get it all here!
I'm sure you understand why those bands are related but there's another band that people don't talk that much: Heavy Rescue. It's Dan Navetta new band, he still plays guitar like he did in The Movielife but this time it's not loud music. Give it a listen on My Space.

The european tour is over so the boys are back home. The new tour with No Use For a Name and The Suicide Machines starts tomorrow in Dallas and it will last until the end of March. Talking about tours, I Am The Avalanche are confirmed at Smartpunk stage of this years Warped Tour so expect a bunch of new dates in the following days.

A bunch of new tour dates was announced on the official site and so West Coast and Canada shows are now confirmed. I'm not listing them here but just click on Tour Dates on the left, they are all there.

Today is the famous Friday the 13th and just to get things more scary, it's also full moon. Many of you don't believe those things but yesterday I Am The Avalanche played a warm up show for the european tour on Montclair, NJ and you could already feel the evil effect in the air as you can see on this photo. Finally the boys have the much deserved holidays so we'll have to wait until next year to see them live again. After the show at Montclair, I Am The Avalanche will head up to the United Kingdom and I have a little gift to all those britons. Three months after The Downtown (Farmingdale, NY) announced that they closed its doors, I've gathered three photosets from I Am The Avalanche shows there. I wasted some time on Pure Volume to see the new features that came with the new design and found a new I Am The Avalanche date in Philadelphia at the Theatre of Living Arts. The show will take place on Jan. 6 and will probably be the first show of the year and maybe a warm up for the United Kingdom tour which begins on Jan. 17 in Birmingham.
Talking about sites, I was surprised to find out that I Am The Avalanche has a Live Journal community. That's where I come upon a friendly girl called Rebecca Broll who has lots of photos from the show at Hamilton St. Cafe, Bound Brook, NJ, on Nov. 5.
Meanwhile, I got emailed by Ron Ireland (Mike's dad) with some photos from Nov. 23 show at Trocadero, Philadelphia, PA.
All the photos are available in our photos section. Thank you, Rebecca and Ron!

When you are confirmed on a tour, the people involved in the process of putting on the show dont want you to play the same city too close together because it effects your draw on the show which makes sense. We played with Piebald a few days ago in these markets so we aint allowed to do it. the confusion stems from the last-minute-ness (new word) of it all. It was all completely out of our control. Now that The Honorary Title tour ended, I Am The Avalanche have a bunch of new tour dates for December on the Halifax and Punchline tour (check Tour section for more info). Those might be the last shows this year but there's a rumor about a January tour in the United Kingdom supporting The Starting Line and MxPx.
There's also a new section: Photos! It's a little empty yet but thanks to our friends Cricket and Josh now we have something to show.
